The Not Invisible Mode

I leave Skype on all the time.

When someone attempts to engage in conversation that I don’t have time for or I just don’t want to talk to, I politely state “Sorry, I don’t have time to chat with you right now and I have no ETA on when I will have the bandwidth to do so.”

I know so many people who use Invisible mode on Skype to avoid having to chat with people or dodge a difficult conversation.

I have yet to decide if it is more damaging to a relationship to politely but truthfully rebuff someone’s communications attempts or to take the socially less awkward way out and hide.
