Politically Inappropriate

Many years ago…

One year, on Halloween I showed up to the office dressed as a surf bum, small surf board tucked under my arm. A good friend & colleague (fantastic software dev too), who is African American, dressed up as my favourite fictional companion of Christopher Robin.

I greeted him with a jovial “Yo! What up my Tigger!”

And he responded with “Yo Beeeeach! What up!”

And now we are both sat in HR as we are “not allowed to use language like that around here even in fun.”

I am upset by the fact that someone bastardized the English language by using the phrase “in fun.”
