Commodity Hot Dogs
If you are going to sell hot dogs, you want to be where your customers are, or where you expect them to be.
You may even be willing to pay a premium to get as close to your customers as you can (a ball game).
But selling hot dogs is a commodity business. You cannot build loyalty or customer satisfaction chasing customers and giving them the same hot dog they can get from a different vendor 20 meters away.
When you want to build loyalty selling commodity hot dogs you have to figure out a way to make them no longer a commodity and then, it doesn’t matter where you are, the customers will come to you instead.
Figuring out how to make yourself or your product or your service not a commodity isn’t hard. Just stop branding yourself with commodity labels.
