Striking Out

I went to two networking meet ups run by the same guy.

The first time I wore a badge that read just my name.

I had a blast, so many interesting people, so many fantastic conversations.

The second time I wore a badge that read “Mentor” and all I heard throughout the evening were bad pitches that ended in “gif monee pliz.”

The badge was a curse.

When I network, I want to have real conversations, not a sad little sales pitch.
